The potters and ceramists of Amaroussion wish to welcome you to the beautiful world of Ceramics. Our objective is to provide further education for pupils of primary and secondary schools throughout Attika and to welcome foreign tourists travelling to our country.
Our Cooperative consisting of 40 professional potters and ceramists has been offering culture for about 40 years through permanent exhibitions located at 207 Kifissias Avenue in Maroussi, where a further 100 ceramists from all over Greece exhibit their work. This Cooperative is unique in Europe as regards its size and type! Ceramics are exhibited in a 4,000m² area; the exhibition includes all types of exclusively Greek handmade creations using various techniques. Over 15,000 different designs covering all trends and a multitude of applications, such as garden, domestic and professional items, contemporary art, archaic and popular art and also structural (Greek Ceramics in contemporary Architecture) are available on a daily basis and at weekends (09:00 – 21:00) in our exhibition areas.
Areas are also available for seminars and events; there is an art hall, a traditional ceramics workshop where visitors are welcomed and guided, and can learn about and participate in the “magic” art of ceramics, which deals with the 4 elements of nature.
The Centre for Greek Ceramic Art is part of the cultural organization of our ancient art and a contributor to our present history and culture. We invite everybody to see and experience this wealth, and thus learn about our art and tradition.
On the occasion of the celebration of over thirty years since its establishment (1971-2007), the Amaroussion Cooperative of Potters and Ceramists in cooperation with the Municipal Cultural Cooperation of the municipality of Amaroussion has created yet another point of reference for ceramic art, the “Model Traditional Workshop for Pottery and Ceramic Art”.
Prominent technicians and artists will initiate visitors to the beauty, care and secrets of our art, including screenings and historical flashbacks. We hope that everybody will have the chance to share this unique experience with us.
Cultural visits include Educational, Tourism and Professional visits. As regards the latter in particular, you can visit or contact us on a daily basis, during the exhibition’s opening hours.
